Personal vs Workspace Departments
Lenks.ai supports two types of departments, each designed for different collaboration needs.
Understanding the difference helps you decide which one to use when organizing your team.
1️⃣ Personal Departments
Use Personal Departments to organize your own contacts and small groups — such as freelancers, clients, or private project teams — that are not part of a shared workspace.
Key Points
- Belong only to you, the creator.
- Visible exclusively inside Personal Meet Space.
- Ideal for recurring calls or quick meetings with the same group.
- Members do not receive access to your workspaces, files, or internal organizational data.
- Perfect for external collaborations or personal coordination.
How to Create a Personal Department
- From the top home page, go to Personal Meet Space → Departments.
- Click Create New Department.
- Enter a Department Name and an optional description.
- Add members using their email addresses.
- Click Create Department to finalize.

Personal Departments are private to you and do not interact with workspace roles or permissions.
2️⃣ Workspace Departments
Workspace Departments represent official teams inside an organization — e.g., Marketing, Design, Sales, HR, etc.
These departments help teams collaborate inside a shared workspace with unified permissions and access.
Key Points
- Shared with all workspace admins.
- Members inherit full workspace permissions.
- All department meetings, recordings, and AI summaries are stored inside the workspace.
- Perfect for structured teams, internal alignment, and organization-wide collaboration.
How to Create a Workspace Department
- Go to the Workspace where you want the department to exist.
- From the sidebar, click Departments.
- Select Create New Workspace Department.
- Enter the Department Name and optional description.
- Add members from existing workspace users.
- Click Create Department.
